Livestock Training Agency Tengeru – our Partner in Polish Aid 2019/2020 Project.

Livestock Training Agency (LITA) Tengeru Campus is situated on the lower slopes of Mount Meru, 14 km from Arusha city. In general, the climate is ideal for studies and farming.The Campus is one of the eight LITA Campuses under the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries. It was established in 1952 after the departure of the Polish refugees at the end of the Second World War. It holds a remarkable history for being the Headquarter of the East African Community from 1967 to 1977. At this period the Campus was still conducting certificate course in dairy husbandry. After the collapse of East African Community in 1977 the Campus resumed its training activities by offering certificate, diploma and short courses in both agriculture and livestock production. The campus has received full registration and accreditation status from the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE). Currently, the campus offers; the basic certificate in Animal Health and Production (NTA Level 4), The Technician Certificate in Animal Health and Production (NTA Level 5) and The Ordinary Diploma in Animal Health and Production (NTA Level 6) and the demand driven short courses. Right now, the Campus has 42 permanent staff; among them 35 are tutors and 07 are supporting staff. In the Academic year (2018/19) the Campus enrolled 850 students (650 students for long courses and 200 students for short courses) and the number is expected to rise to 1700 in academic year 2021/2022 after improvement of the Campus infrastructures such as dormitories laboratories, classrooms etc.
