Renovation and adaptation works during arrangements to open laboratories of Parasitology in LITA campuses.
It was necessary to conduct renovation and adaptation works during arrangements to open laboratories of Parasitology in four LITA campuses. There were chosen rooms for parasitological labs to obtain that, and some basic works were done such as wall-paintings ect. The scope of works performed by the LITA in didactic rooms allowed to set up the plan of the absolutely essential works that would allow to open labs to start finally classes with students. The assumptions of works for each LITA were established during visit of manager of the project dr M. Klockiewicz and dr J. Bartosik at the turn of June/July this year. During visits in the particular LITA campuses there was established (together with directors of them and employees responsible for technical infrastructure of campuses) that main goals are to provide water supply, sewage systems and electricity that it would be possible do to use microscopes and other laboratory equipments. Before project funds were spent the lists of necessary materials were prepared and the best offers have been chosen. That was a very hard task especially for local coordinators to manage. There were bought such materials as: water tanks, PCV pipes, sewage pipes, sinks, electric wires, electric sockets, lighting, ect. And afterwards all the goods were delivered to campuses and the workers started to assemble installations. Those works were done by workers of particular campuses or supported by external construction companies. Those works were fund by Beneficiary – LITA campuses. It was also necessary to organize the new laboratory furniture and safe storage rooms for microscopes and laboratory equipment. Local coordinators from Buhuri, Kikulula, Mabuki and Temeke inform that according to the project’s schedule most of works have been completed by the end of August and currently last finish works are being done and those are due to some defects while installations took place in the laboratory rooms.
